Two of my 3rd graders are currently reading Harry Potter and they are loving it. Whenever I see them reading it I’m like

“The big lie about capitalism is that everyone can be rich. That’s impossible. Capitalism works only if the vast majority of the population are kept poor enough to never quit working, are kept poor enough to accept distasteful jobs society cannot function without. If everyone were a millionaire, who would empty the trash or repair the sewers? It follows that the poorer the general population is made, the greater the worth of the money held by the wealthy, in terms of the lives which may be bought and sold with it.”

“Why nature is mathematical is, again, a mystery.”

This is a sign posted at Welford Primary School in the British city of Birmingham. It reads, “At Welford we respect each other’s age, disabilities, gender, race, religion, gender identity and sexual orientation.”

Headteacher Jamie Barry from Welford Primary, who has led the initiative at the school stated: ‘We are preparing children to live in an extremely diverse world. At Welford, we feel that we shouldn’t shy away from talking about difference. Instead, we have an openness to discussing diversity and promoting respect for one another.’

Teach love and respect as early as possible. I love it. (via Gay Star News)
